F.A.Q.
Neurotest of New York
We are a leading neurology practice in New York City treating all neurological conditions and EMG testing. All visits and tests are conducted by board certified, fellowship trained physicians from top institutions.
Bathe or shower but do not put on any lotions or moisturizers. Let your tester know beforehand if you are taking blood thinners or have a pacemaker, as special precautions may be needed.
Neither tests should lead to any complications. You may feel some soreness for a day or two where the EMG needle was inserted. If you notice redness, swelling or other signs of infection around the needle mark, please let your primary doctor know.
Eat normally the night before and day of the test. Wash your hair the night before the test and do not use any styling products. Let your doctor know if you are taking any prescription medications.
You can wash off the gel and go about your day as usual.
An EMG and NCS can take up to 30 minutes to complete. An EEG can take up to 60 minutes to complete.
