Step 3 - Prepare For Appointment
Gather all your documents for the appointment. Bring your ID, insurance card, credit card, MRI or imaging reports, old tests, lab results, medication list, and referral if needed.
Accepted Insurances
Neurotest of New York participates with several major insurance plans. Due to the complexities of insurance plans, it is your responsibility to verify your benefit coverage.
HMO plans require referrals from your primary care doctor.
We are In-Network with the following insurances:

Options for Out-of-Network and Uninsured:
- Many insurance plans may provide you reimbursement for services. We can provide you with an insurance statement (Superbill) with the necessary codes for you to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement upon request. We recommend using Reimbursify.com to help you correctly submit a bill to your insurance company to get reimbursed on time.
- You may also ask your insurance company for a network exemption.
- Very affordable prices are available for patients who may need to pay out of pocket. Ask us for a list of fees.
Payment is due at the time of the service. We do not accept checks.
Our mission is to provide excellent service to our patients which includes prompt appointment availability. Therefore, we will charge for any missed/cancelled appointments without 24-hour notice.

EMG/NCS:
- Bathe or shower but do not put on any lotions or moisturizers.
- Let your tester know beforehand if you are taking blood thinners or have a pacemaker, as special precautions may be needed.
- Neither tests should lead to any complications.
- You may feel some soreness for a day or two where the EMG needle was inserted.
- If you notice redness, swelling or other signs of infection around the needle mark, please let your primary doctor know.
EEG:
- Eat normally the night before and day of the test.
- Wash your hair the night before the test and do not use any styling products.
- Let your doctor know if you are taking any prescription medications.
- You can wash off the gel and go about your day as usual.

Neurotest of New York
We are a leading neurology practice in New York City treating all neurological conditions and EMG testing. All visits and tests are conducted by board certified, fellowship trained physicians from top institutions.
- Bring your medication list, picture ID, insurance cards, and copay.
- Bring your doctor’s referral if you need one.
- Bring any medical records, prior test results, or CT/MRI reports.
- Please fill out your online patient forms or bring a copy.

Please wear a comfortable, sleeveless, open collared shirt or loose T-shirt and loose fitting shorts. Basically, we need access to your arms and legs for the testing. Do not apply any lotions or oil on your skin. Take off any jewelry.

An EMG and NCS can take up to 1 hour to complete. An EEG can take up to 30-60 minutes to complete. Please allow for additional time in your schedule as wait times may vary. We know your time is valuable and we strive to stay on schedule; so we ask you to arrive promptly and on time.
Our doctors will discuss the preliminary results with you once the tests are completed. We will send a copy of the final results to your referring doctor within 24 hours. Please follow up with your doctor to begin your treatment.
